ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation installed a truck scale<\/a> under a canopy for a customer in the food industry. Even this challenging installation situation is no problem for ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation! <\/p>\n\n

Customer<\/h3>\n\n

The client is an international food manufacturer with over 80,000 employees. Its core business areas include the production of snacks, particularly cookies, chocolate, and other confectionery products. <\/p>\n\n

A vehicle scale was needed in the entrance area of one of the customer\u2019s existing locations. This location already had a weigh station with a canopy. The new HE-SFK in-ground vehicle scale<\/a> was to be installed under this canopy. <\/p>\n\n

Mounting the weighbridge under the canopy<\/h3>\n\n

In addition to the challenging installation situation caused by the canopy, access to the weighbridge pit is also difficult. Neither of the two long sides is suitable for crane placement; one side is occupied by the weigh station, and the other side cannot be used due to the property boundary. Furthermore, one end is unsuitable for crane placement due to the access road. Therefore, both cranes had to be positioned on the same end. <\/p>\n\n

Foundation Work<\/h4>\n\n

First, the client excavated the pit for the vehicle scale according to drawings provided by ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation and prepared the ground accordingly. Access to the weigh station was created to accommodate the conduit. To facilitate the subsequent crane installation of the vehicle scale under the canopy, the pit was made wider for this purpose. <\/p>\n\n

Delivery and assembly of the first precast concrete foundation and the weighing platform<\/h4>\n\n

The first precast concrete foundation and the precast concrete platform must be positioned exactly according to the drawings and placed on the prepared subgrade. The service technician from ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation and the crane operators work together as an excellent team to complete the installation quickly. <\/p>\n\n

As the first half of the truck scales is not under the canopy, it could be inserted from the front using a crane.<\/p>\n\n

Craning the second precast concrete foundation into the preliminary position in the pit<\/h4>\n\n

Next, the second half of the vehicle scale\u2014consisting of a precast concrete foundation and a precast concrete platform\u2014was lifted into place by crane. To do this, the precast foundation was first set down by crane, slightly offset, into the wider excavation. <\/a><\/p>\n\n

Craning in the precast concrete foundation and the precast concrete bridge under the canopy<\/h4>\n\n

The precast concrete foundation was lifted from its initial position in the pit to its final position under the canopy using a spreader beam and two cranes. Similarly, the second precast concrete bridge was lifted into the foundation using the spreader beam. The length of the crossbeam was selected so that it would extend beyond the width of the canopy and withstand the enormous loads of the concrete components. <\/a><\/p>\n\n
