{"id":49180,"date":"2003-08-08T09:22:00","date_gmt":"2003-08-08T07:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essmann.com\/a-carriage-scales-of-the-br-essmann-and-co-in-the-hamburg-museum-of-work\/"},"modified":"2024-07-30T16:56:13","modified_gmt":"2024-07-30T14:56:13","slug":"a-carriage-scales-of-the-br-essmann-and-co-in-the-hamburg-museum-of-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essmann.com\/en\/a-carriage-scales-of-the-br-essmann-and-co-in-the-hamburg-museum-of-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Archive 2004: A wagon scale from Gebr.\nEssmann and Co. in the Hamburg &#8220;Museum of Labor&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The weighbridge stands next to the gatehouse, on the main access road to the former premises of the New York Hamburger Gummiwarenfabrik.\nAt the beginning of the 1990s, it was to be completely removed from the driveway of the Museum der Arbeit, which was being built at the time.\nHowever, the construction workers were stopped by the museum&#8217;s research assistant Christina Bargholz.\nUnfortunately, the wooden planks covering the bridges of the scales, the load levers and the transmission levers had already been removed.\nAfter the dismantling work was stopped, the outer steel frame measuring 4.0 m by 4.5 m was refilled with sand.    <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"341\" height=\"320\" data-id=\"15112\" src=\"https:\/\/essmann.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/fuhrwerkswaage.jpg\" alt=\"Truck scales\" class=\"wp-image-15112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/essmann.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/fuhrwerkswaage.jpg 341w, https:\/\/essmann.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/fuhrwerkswaage-300x282.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"341\" height=\"455\" data-id=\"15113\" src=\"https:\/\/essmann.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/fuhrwerkswaage-schild-essma.jpg\" alt=\"Truck scales\" class=\"wp-image-15113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/essmann.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/fuhrwerkswaage-schild-essma.jpg 341w, https:\/\/essmann.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/fuhrwerkswaage-schild-essma-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p>The wagon scales must have been built between 1879 and 1919.\nThe New York Hamburger Gummiwarenfabrik only had its branch in Hamburg-Barmbek from 1873 to 1954, and the manufacturing company was only called Gebr.\nEssmann and Co.
