The ESSMANN HE-SRS is a versatile, static combination scale for rail and road vehicles – ideal for demanding industrial and logistics applications with mixed traffic. The modular steel construction can be configured as a pure rail vehicle scale or as a combined rail/road vehicle scale.
Modular design & flexible assembly
The system consists of several scale modules that can be interconnected either in a permanent network or in freely combinable units. Thanks to the particularly low height and low weight, installation is also possible in hard-to-reach places, e.g. under existing silos or loading systems, using light lifting equipment such as a 2-way excavator or forklift truck.
Installation is carried out on strip foundations prepared on site or optionally in an ESSMANN prefabricated foundation.
Optional HE-AUTOPOS loading position system – Automatic bridge switching & weight determination
The optional HE-AUTOPOS system is available for loading stations with coupled trains. This system recognizes the current wagon position on the scales in real time and automatically activates the appropriate bridge combination to determine the net weight.
Functions of HE-AUTOPOS:
- Position detection of individual wagons in the train formation
- Automatic switching of the scale modules
- Recognition of warping and rolling back
- Live display of the net weight
- Connection to loading control systems for precise filling
This eliminates the need to break up the train formation for the weighing process. Loading is accelerated, overfilling is prevented and process reliability is increased.

Differences to HE-GW/HE-GSW
If you need a modular, particularly flat scale for confined installation locations – e.g. under silos or in existing systems – we recommend the ESSMANN HE-SRS static combination scale. Thanks to its lightweight steel construction, it is easy to transport and can also be installed with small equipment. The HE-SRS offers maximum flexibility when combining several scale modules and, with the optional HE-AUTOPOS system, can automatically load trains in a coupled state without having to break up the train formation. If, on the other hand, the focus is on a calibratable standard solution with a solid design and proven infrastructure integration, we recommend the HE-GW or HE-GSW.

The HE-SRS rail vehicle scales program is a system for weighing rail vehicles and complies with the applicable DIN standards, the regulations of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and the OIML recommendations. The load specifications of DIN 8119, DIN Technical Report 101 and LM71 are decisive for the dimensioning of the scales.

Assembly info
The ESSMANN HE-SRS is installed on site on strip foundations provided by the customer or optionally on an ESSMANN prefabricated foundation. Thanks to the lightweight modular steel construction, the scale can even be installed in places that are difficult to access – such as under silos or narrow industrial plants – using simple equipment such as forklift trucks or two-way excavators.
After assembly, the scales are precision-mechanically adjusted. It is then tested, calibrated and documented by our qualified team using calibration weights and reference vehicles as part of the legally required manufacturer calibration (conformity assessment procedure in accordance with the German Measurement Act/Measurement Ordinance).
Immediately afterwards, the HE-SRS is fully calibratable and immediately ready for operation – e.g. for the weighed loading of goods wagons in throughput operation or under automated loading stations.
