Why an underfloor weighbridge at the landfill?
The precise recording of material flows is essential – not only for billing and accounting, but also for traceability in accordance with the German Recycling Management Act. Robust, low-maintenance and space-saving scales solutions are particularly important at landfill sites and recycling centers, where both cars with small deliveries and large trucks with bulk goods, containers or hazardous materials travel on a daily basis.

Project implementation: focus on safety and efficiency
The Stäffelesrain landfill has a daily vehicle volume of around 100 vehicles – from private cars with waste wood to heavy trucks with residual waste containers. To ensure smooth processing, ESSMANN installed two HE-SFK 20 truck scales, each with a length of 20 meters.
The special feature: Due to the gaseous emissions from the landfill, such as methane or sulphur compounds, the entire weighing technology was designed with explosion protection (explosion protection). This applies in particular to
- the load cells,
- the terminal boxes,
- and all electrical connections in the substation.
This explosion protection ensures that safe, legally compliant operation is possible even under the most difficult environmental conditions – without compromising on functionality.
Convenient operation thanks to remote display
The equipment also includes two V100 remote displays, which show the weighing results in a large format and clearly visible – for drivers and on-site personnel alike. This is a great advantage in hectic operating situations or in difficult visibility conditions on the landfill site.
