ESSMANN is an owner-managed scale manufacturer headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, which has been setting standards in professional weighing technology for over 165 years. Our scales can be found in industry, trade and laboratories. As one of the few specialist weighing companies, we cover the entire spectrum of weighing technology from ultra-fine scales to rail scales and combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art automation.
Our history
ESSMANN was founded in 1860 by Christian Moritz Westphal in Wandsbek near Hamburg. After being taken over by his nephews Albert and Ludwig Eßmann in 1878, the company in Ottensen developed into Waagenfabrik Gebr. Eßmann & Co. Innovations such as the patented Eßmann rope hoist scales from 1907 shaped the industry. For generations, ESSMANN remained a family business that always focused on technical modernization and new technologies. Dr.-Ing. Fabian Ehmke
Managing Director
Dr.-Ing. Fabian Ehmke specializes in the future of weighing technologies, innovation and digitalization. He has over ten years of international experience in technology and innovation management and has extensive expertise as a manager in special machine construction and software development. His focus is on combining classic engineering skills with pioneering technology, always with the aim of developing sustainable and scalable solutions. At ESSMANN, he is responsible for product and technology development as well as sales.
Dr.-Ing. Gregor Graßl
Managing Director
Dr.-Ing. Gregor Graßl began his career in materials research at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft after completing a double degree in engineering and international technology management. Over the course of his career, he has worked as a team and site leader, founded several research and industrial facilities and led projects to introduce digital manufacturing methods in the automotive and aerospace industries. For him, resilient structures are the prerequisite for sustainable growth. At ESSMANN, he is responsible for personnel development, business development and sales processes.
René Teichmann
Managing Director
René Teichmann holds a degree in Finance from the University of Wales, Cardiff and the Harz University of Applied Sciences. He was Head of Information Technology at Zeitverlag Gerd Bucerius GmbH & Co. KG and CIO at Rickmers Holding AG. He was also a member of the advisory board of Deutsche Technologie Manufakturen GmbH. His focus has always been on digital transformation, the development of efficient IT structures and strategic corporate management. For him, strategic management is most effective when the big picture is not lost sight of. At ESSMANN, he is responsible for finance and accounting as well as the management of IT.
