That’s what ESSMANN’s license plate recognition is designed for: for vehicle scales at entry and exit points and, beyond that, for comprehensive yard management.
License plate recognition uses ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology to capture the license plate upon entry. This reliably distinguishes between registered vehicles and visitor vehicles, and pre-scheduled weigh-ins proceed automatically without any user intervention. In our EWA system , the EWA Vision module in the EWA Suite cross-checks the license plate against your master data and fills out the weighing form before the driver reaches the scale. Loading specifications—such as those for handling waste, hazardous materials, or construction materials—are stored in the system and are also verified during this process.
The precise motion detection also enables the exact position of the vehicle to be determined, which is crucial for smooth weighing or loading.

We’ll work with you to determine what data is collected, how long it will be stored, and when it will be deleted, and we’ll document camera positions and coverage areas for your record of processing activities.
