Before roasting, each batch is weighed; after roasting, it is weighed again to document moisture loss and ensure consistent recipe quality. It is then portioned—whether as whole beans or ground coffee—always to the nearest gram. And those who don’t use a measuring spoon also use a scale when brewing—on average, 7 grams of ground coffee per 100 ml of water.
