ESSMANN static track scale HE-GSW/GW

Our static track scale: ESSMANN HE-GW/GSW

ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation designs, manufactures and assembles complete, calibratable weighing systems. The development of the HE-GW/HE-GSW static rail scales is based on our many years of experience in the construction of scales. Only the most modern components are used in the manufacture of our rail scales.

The HE-GW static rail scale is a standard system in which the rails are mounted on the bridge. This system is primarily used for static weighing, e.g. with our EWP-GW weighing software for loading tank wagons and bulk goods wagons under filling systems.

In the HE-GSW combined rail and road vehicle scales , the rails are embedded in the scales bridge. This type of scale is used where the weight of road and rail vehicles is to be determined on one scale or where road vehicles must be able to drive over it. The bridges and foundations of both scales systems consist of prefabricated concrete parts, which are included in the scope of delivery of ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation. Alternatively, the foundations can also be constructed by the customer using in-situ concrete.

Installation and commissioning

Installation and commissioning include:

  • Delivery of the complete scale free to the installation site
  • Mounting the scales
  • Device installation
  • Device connection
  • Device and system test
  • Adjustment and manufacturer’s calibration of the scales
  • Instruction in operation following the installation of the device and
  • Trial operation

The HE-GW/GSW rail vehicle scales program is a system for weighing rail vehicles and complies with the applicable DIN standards, the regulations of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and the OIML recommendations. The load specifications of DIN 8119, DIN Technical Report 101 and LM71 are decisive for the dimensioning of the scales. In addition, the relevant DIN regulations and the current leaflet on fair-faced concrete from the Fachvereinigung Deutscher Betonfertigteilbau e.V. with the defined fair-faced concrete class SB 2 form the basis.

Track scales also in special lengths

By combining two or three bridges of different lengths, the HE-GW and HE-GSW static track scales can be designed as composite scales. The bridge length can be up to 10 m as a single component. The scales can be manufactured in special lengths or widths for special applications. The bridges can also be designed for wide and narrow gauge tracks and for all common rail profiles, so that the scales can be used for any track vehicle. Recesses can be provided in the weighbridges to guide the hauling ropes for hauling equipment such as that used for loading liquid gas.

Applicable regulations

The static track scales are designed in accordance with the applicable DIN standards, the regulations of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB ) and the OIML recommendations. The load specifications of DIN Technical Report 101 and LM 71 / UIC 71 (DB regulation DS 804) are decisive for the dimensioning of the scales. The precast bridges are manufactured using concrete grade C45/55.

Assembly info

During the installation of the scale, it is adjusted at its place of use and brought into a legal-for-trade condition. Using vehicles and calibration weights, it is then calibrated by our team for the first mail and can then be used immediately in legal-for-trade applications. This process is called manufacturer verification (or conformity assessment procedure).
