Efficiency thanks to HE-SFK underfloor truck scales and intelligent yard management
The digitalization of logistics processes is making great strides – especially where many goods have to be moved and weighed. An impressive example of a well thought-out, forward-looking solution in the area of yard logistics and weighing is the project at Avirettaa manufacturer of corrugated base paper. Together with the experienced team from ESSMANN, an individual system solution was implemented around the HE-SFK 18 underfloor truck scale, which masters both technical challenges and modern requirements for digitalization and automation.
Initial situation and challenge
Aviretta is undergoing an active transformation process: the aim is to fully digitalize the logistics and yard processes. The existing ERP system will be retained and intelligently integrated with the time slot management system Transporeon Time Slot Management system. Hauliers and truck drivers now receive a time slot and a corresponding QR code for their journey in advance.
The operational challenge was to reliably weigh the large number of incoming and outgoing trucks on a daily basis while at the same time efficiently controlling the flow of traffic on the factory premises. One of the two HE-SFK underfloor truck scales had to be installed in an extremely cramped existing situation – between two halls under a pipe bridge only 4 meters high. An installation that was a first even for the ESSMANN team with 165 years of experience – and was successfully mastered.

The solution: HE-SFK, software integration and smart terminals
Check-In with safety module
At the factory entrance, all drivers and visitors register via a modern stainless steel check-in terminal with a large touchscreen and QR code scanner. The software was developed entirely in-house at ESSMANN and is multilingual so that drivers of all nationalities can find their way around intuitively. The integrated safety module guides drivers through a safety briefing in their respective national language – including digital confirmation.
After registering, the driver enters additional data such as license plate number and mobile number and goes to the parking lot. There he waits for a text message or a call from the Aviretta team to allocate the loading bay.
Weighing via HE-SFK underfloor truck scales
The trucks enter and exit via an HE-SFK 18 underfloor truck scale, which was installed in a calibratable version. The installation work on the entrance scales was a logistical masterpiece: Using two special mobile cranes, the precast concrete parts were precisely craned in under the narrow pipe bridge – millimeter work. The pit prepared by the customer corresponded exactly to the specifications from the ESSMANN installation sequence and foundation plan – a real team effort.
Both scales are equipped with driver self-service terminals equipped with a touchscreen, QR scanner and weighing terminal. The intuitive HE-Terminal software guides the driver through the calibratable weighing process – without personnel involvement and completely digitally.

Transparent yard management with Transporeon and ERP connection
The entire process is seamlessly linked to the Transporeon time slot management system and Aviretta’s ERP system. After unloading, the second weighing takes place on the exit scale. Only when all the necessary process steps have been completed does the automatic barrier at the exit open – controlled by another scan of the QR code.
The seamless synchronization of all data ensures maximum transparency and efficiency in yard logistics – without any paper.
Conclusion: Modern logistics meets proven weighing expertise
With the implementation of this project, ESSMANN has once again demonstrated how in-depth experience in scale construction, state-of-the-art software solutions and customized planning can be combined to create a future-proof solution. The HE-SFK underfloor truck scale underfloor truck scale has not only proven itself here with its compact design and long service life, but has also been optimized through the planned integration of the ESSMANN Yard Management System into the overall digital system to form the backbone of modern yard management.
