EWA is the new weighing and yard management software platform from ESSMANN | Waagen & Automation for everything that happens at and around the scale and in the yard.
It manages weighing, driver self-check-in, access control, yard operations, documentation, and follow-up processes—including in the KRITIS sector. The suite includes two products: EWA Smart for single scales and the modular EWA Suite for multiple scales, self-service, yard control, and ERP integration. All applications are browser-based but do not require an internet connection. As reliable as our customers have come to expect from our software over the past 30 years.

The first truck is at the gate
The driver doesn’t speak German, the weigh station staff aren’t there yet, and trucks are already lining up behind the first one. Later, the paper weigh slip makes its way through the building: from the weigh station to the dispatch department, and from there to accounting, where someone types in the numbers—and if there are any questions, the search begins in the file. This is still what everyday life looks like at many weigh stations, whether at an agricultural supply store, a waste management facility, or a factory handling eighty deliveries a day.
That is what the EWA Suite was developed for: The driver weighs the vehicle himself; the weighing process is documented and traceable; and the data is available—without having to be manually entered—right where it will be processed further.

Camera-based license plate recognition, digital cargo inspection before shipment or delivery, and an app for transport orders and driver processes can be added as soon as the need arises. Ankündigung
Lieferungen und Abholungen sind im System angelegt, bevor das Fahrzeug den Hof erreicht. Aufträge, Kunden und Materialien sind hinterlegt – an der Waage muss niemand mehr Grunddaten erfassen.
Ankunft und Anmeldung
Der Fahrer meldet sich selbst an – am EWA Checkin Terminal, mehrsprachig, auch außerhalb Ihrer Bürozeiten. Ihr Personal wird nur noch dann und dort eingesetzt, wenn es tatsächlich gebraucht wird.
Identifikation und Zufahrt
Das System erkennt, wer auf den Hof darf und wo er erwartet wird. Kennzeichenerkennung, Schranken, Ampeln und Zufahrten lassen sich in den Ablauf einbinden, damit der Verkehr auf dem Gelände geordnet läuft.
Verwiegung
Erst- und Zweitwägung laufen dokumentiert und manipulationsgeschützt. Jede Wägung ist einem Auftrag zugeordnet und sofort im System sichtbar – für alle, die damit weiterarbeiten.
Kontrolle und Dokumentation
Bilddokumentation und Prüfschritte lassen sich direkt in den Wägeablauf integrieren – entweder mit einer fest installierten Kamera oder mobil mit EWA CargoControl auf dem Rugged Tablet. Bei Rückfragen liegt der Nachweis schnell auffindbar im System, nicht auf irgendeinem Drive-Ordner.
Abfahrt und Beleg
Wiegeschein und Lieferpapiere entstehen automatisch – digital, druckbar, archiviert. Der Fahrer verlässt den Hof, der Vorgang ist abgeschlossen und vollständig.
Folgeprozesse
Die Daten fließen ohne Abtippen in Abrechnung, Warenwirtschaft oder ERP. Was an der Waage erfasst wurde, muss nirgendwo ein zweites Mal eingegeben werden.

Seamless media integration—from the first order to billing
A media break is any point at which data must be transferred from one system to another: data is transcribed from paper, lists are transferred, and documents are searched for.
EWA is designed so that these positions become obsolete. All applications run in the browser—without any local installation—from the scale house to the office. Drivers interact via the terminal or on their mobile devices, and your team works with the same, up-to-date data at every workstation.
Interfaces with ERP and inventory management systems ensure that the weighing data is sent to where your processes continue.

EWA is ESSMANN’s software platform for weighing, yard management, driver interaction, documentation, and follow-up processes. The umbrella brand encompasses two products: EWA Smart for individual scales and the modular EWA Suite.
What is the difference between EWA Smart and EWA Suite?
EWA Smart isthe streamlined solution for operating a single vehicle scale, including job management. The EWA Suite is a modular system for businesses with multiple scales, self-service processes, yard control, or interface requirements. Both are based on the same technical core.
Can I switch from EWA Smart to EWA Suite?
Yes. EWA Smart and EWA Suite share the same core and are both part of the EWA system —switching to one is an upgrade of the existing system, and your data and master data will be preserved.
For which industries is EWA suitable?
Anywhere vehicles are weighed and the flow of goods is documented: including agricultural trade and farming, waste management (waste-to-energy plants) and recycling, building materials, industry, and ports. We offer tailored solutions for specific industries. In particular, our IT team for 30 years to meet legal requirements.
Does EWA run in the browser?
Yes. The applications on the EWA software platform are browser-based and do not require a local installation on each workstation. However, you do not necessarily need constant access to the Internet. This point is particularly essential in KRITIS environments.
What will happen to my EWP installation?
Existing EWP customers will continue to receive support. The EWA software platform is the successor—we will advise you individually on the timing and scope of the transition.
