ESSMANN dynamic track scale HE-DRS

Our dynamic track scale: ESSMANN HE-DRS

Dynamic weighing with the ESSMANN HE-DRS rail vehicle scale is the right solution if the weighing must be calibratable, the number of wagons is large and the weighing operation must take little time. The train is pulled or pushed over the track scale at a uniform speed and the weight of each wagon is automatically determined. The wagons are weighed both empty and loaded. Our ESSMANN weighing system calculates the net weights for each individual wagon and for the entire train. Liquid goods can also be weighed dynamically with high accuracy. This requires the axles or bogies to be on the scales at the same time as the weight is recorded.

A rail scale for weighing in motion weighs the wagons of a train set fully automatically. The train set can be made up of different types of wagons – the weigher does not need to know in advance how long the wagons are or how many axles they have. Our EWP weighing software, which controls the function of the track scales, processes data such as the length and number of axles of each wagon and automatically determines the wagon weight.

Installation and commissioning

Installation and commissioning include:

  • Delivery of the complete scale free to the installation site,
  • Supervision of track construction work in the area of the weighbridge,
  • Assembly of the complete scale,
  • Device installation,
  • Device connection,
  • Device and system test,
  • Adjustment and presentation of the scales for official verification,
  • Instruction in operation following the installation of the appliance and
  • Trial operation.

Under normal conditions, 10 working days are required to install the scale offered. The scale can be driven over within 1 – 1 ½ days after the start of installation, provided that the track system has been prepared accordingly.

The HE-DRS rail vehicle scale is a system for the dynamic and static weighing of rail vehicles and complies with the applicable DIN standards, the regulations of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB ) and the OIML recommendations. The load specifications of Eurocode 3 (DIN EN 1993) and load model 71 are decisive for the
production and dimensioning of the scales.

Information on installing the dynamic track scale

ESSMANN installs the dynamic track scales with its own personnel. The track must be closed beforehand so that a track construction company can split the rails according to our drawings and instructions and prepare a pit. The track scales are delivered in one or more parts on trucks and then lifted into the pit. Connecting rails, supplied by us and installed by the track construction company, ensure seamless integration into the existing track. After installation, the scales are adjusted at their place of use and brought into a calibratable condition. Our team then calibrates it for the first time with vehicles and calibration weights and it can be used immediately in legal-for-trade applications.
